“For me to be able to play a small part and to be able to contribute to keeping children safe is very rewarding. It’s good for the soul.” – Silvio Marinelli, Foundation volunteer.
Since the very first day, the Foundation has relied on the generous support of our dedicated volunteers.
Our wonderful volunteers have come from the corporate world, schools and universities, and many who have been impacted by our work.
Volunteers have packed more than 110,000 Buddy Bags, rattled tins at the footy and at the cricket, ran in marathons, held fundraisers and have been behind the scenes providing vital support for 25 years.
Long time volunteer and Foundation supporter, Silvio Marinelli, feels deeply about the Foundation because he remembers the Port Arthur tragedy.
“I remember it happening very clearly and it always moved me a great deal. So, when I had the opportunity to meet Walter Mikac at Richmond Football Club’s dedicated match day for the Foundation, it tied everything together for me,” he said.
“Being able to contribute to the Foundation’s Buddy Bags program, the cyber safety programs and Dolly’s Dream means a great deal. For me to be able to play a small part and to be able to contribute to keeping children safe is very rewarding. It’s good for the soul.”
We couldn’t have done it without all of these extraordinary supporters. Every contribution has helped us keep children safe from violence, and we thank every one of our volunteers, past and present. Thank you.
